A little history on why I’m making a book about mushrooms…I think they’re fucking cool. Psychedelic, edible, pretty and ugly, they are just about the coolest things on the planet for no rational reason.
There’s also a theory mushrooms are from space…I’m just sayin.
So, rather than accidentally killing someone with misinformation, I decided to make an ‘artist inspired’ mushroom book (for non identification purposes only). Always gotta have a little subscript, there will be no mushroom deaths on my watch.
Each mushroom is so different, I wanted to be able to express that (there are a hell of a lot of white and brown mushrooms) so I started experimenting with different textures and photos to give each mushroom it’s own identity. If it was possible, I fell in love with mushrooms even more after drawing them and am now making plans to go ‘hunting’ in Mendocino County. This book has also united me with a lot of other mushroom lovers, and in general, probably one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done for myself artistically.

I have so much fun using photos as colour, this entire mushroom is made from a salmon plate :) The mushroom texture is the actual salmon, the grass is a lime that was served with it, and the stems are crushed ice that the salmon was laying on top of. I haven’t posted this one on da other than on the poster, this ones special for you guys.
